I am excited to announce that on June 1, 2020 RESCO Electronics completed its acquisition of Madison, Wisconsin based Convenience Electronics, Inc. (“CEI”). CEI was founded in 1989 by Harry Lum and has grown to be one of the premier cable and electromechanical assembly manufacturers in the Midwest. CEI’s culture of putting its customers first coupled with a relentless focus on continual improvement fit well with RESCO. Convenience’s emphasis on customers in the medical equipment and technology industries also matches well with RESCO’s concentration in these same areas. CEI Production Floor
This acquisition marks RESCO’s fourth in the last 12 years each bringing new capabilities and expanding our presence around the US. In 2008, we purchased Sherman Assembly Systems in San Antonio, Texas. This acquisition gave RESCO a strong presence in the Southwest and an entrée into the technology industry, now RESCO’s second largest customer sector behind only medical equipment. Three years later we acquired MorrCo Enterprises based in Del Rio, Texas with a manufacturing facility in Acuna, Mexico. MorrCo helped RESCO expand its customer base in technology and, importantly, gave RESCO a low-cost manufacturing facility just across the Texas border in Mexico. Then in 2016, RESCO purchased J-Rad Technical Services in Spartanburg, South Carolina. J-Rad gave RESCO a large customer base in the Southeast.
Through a combination of these acquisitions and organic growth, RESCO’s team has grown to over 230 individuals supporting over 100 customers out of three manufacturing locations. Our operations in Baltimore, MD, Madison, WI, and Acuna, MX are well equipped and ideally positioned to serve our customers throughout North America and around the world.
Although each of our acquisitions has contributed to RESCO’s growth, our goal has never been growth for growth’s sake. The recent purchase of CEI, as well as each of the acquisitions that preceded it, have allowed us to expand our capabilities, develop manufacturing redundancy and lower our incremental cost of operation. More simply stated, our acquisitions have allowed us to better serve our customers.
So today we welcome CEI, its 50 associates and many customers to the RESCO family. Convenience is an excellent addition to our operations, fits well into our long-term plan and is another important step in our ongoing march to improve how well we can serve our customers.
